INTERNSHIPS

Student Internships

This program is limited to students who are enrolled in post-secondary school classes for which they will be receiving academic credit for the internship they serve with FMC.

Both the Student Intern and FMC recognize that the training received by the Student Interns is for the benefit of the Student Interns.

Consistent with the above, Student Interns do not displace regular employees of FMC, and it is understood that Student Interns are not entitled to employment with FMC at the completion of their internship.

Student Internships are normally for a period of three to four months (a typical semester or trimester). The Student Intern understands that they are not entitled to wages for the time spent in their internship.

However, as an extra training benefit to Student Interns, they will be eligible to receive a discount of 20% on all classes given by FMC at any of the FMC branches, subject to the following:
  • Interns must show up to their classes in a timely manner out of respect to the full-paying clients.
  • Student Interns are only eligible to use their discount for FMC classes during, or within 6 months of completion, of their Student Internship.
  • The Discounts on Classes are non-transferable.
  • Student Interns are expected to conduct themselves in a professional manner, to conform to appropriate workplace standards of conduct, and to perform in a responsible manner. Student Internships may be terminated at any time, without or without cause, and with or without notice.
  • Student Interns are not employees of FMC, and, accordingly, are not eligible for any of the benefits for which regular full-time or regular part-time FMC are eligible.
  • Nevertheless, Student Interns are expected to comply with FMC’s policies pertaining to acceptable conduct in the workplace. This includes, but is not limited to, FMC’s policies prohibiting unlawful discrimination or harassment.
  • Due to heightened security, Student Interns agree to a full background check, in the discretion of FMC, and agree to provide the necessary written authorization for such background check, upon request.
Those wishing to apply for the student internship should direct all inquiries to the Branch Manager.
